Explore Exciting Programs and Opportunities in Del Valle ISD
At Whisper Valley, we believe that a thriving, connected community starts with access to exceptional education – and we’re proud to be part of a district that’s delivering just that. Del Valle Independent School District (DVISD) serves 174 square miles of southeastern Travis County, stretching from Pleasant Valley Boulevard in the west to the Bastrop County line in the east, and from the Hays County line up north to our very own community of Whisper Valley.
With the exciting news that Del Valle ISD’s second high school will open right here in Whisper Valley in 2027, now is the perfect time to explore all the district has to offer. Plus, we’re thrilled that two additional school sites are also planned for our growing community.
A Focus on Academic Excellence
Serving more than 11,800 students, DVISD is committed to academic rigor, real-world learning, and personalized support. The district’s 97% graduation rate reflects that commitment, as do its many advanced programs, including AP, Dual Credit, and Early College High School opportunities through a partnership with Austin Community College. Students in the Early College program can earn an associate degree while still in high school – saving an average of $12,000 in tuition costs and gaining a significant head start on their college journey.
For younger learners, enrichment begins early. Del Valle ISD offers a robust Gifted & Talented program, project-based learning, and even high school credit options for middle schoolers. Bilingual and dual-language programs begin in Pre-K, fostering language development and cultural appreciation in English and Spanish.
Preparing Students for the Future
Del Valle ISD is a leader in Career and Technical Education (CTE), offering 16 different programs of study and over 20 certification pathways in fields like health science, cybersecurity, engineering, education, and hospitality. Partnerships with leading organizations including Tesla, Samsung, and St. David’s Healthcare give students valuable hands-on experience and networking opportunities.
Programs like P-TECH (Pathways in Technology Early College High School) integrate college and workplace experience, preparing students for high-demand careers in cybersecurity and advanced manufacturing.
Additionally, the district opened a new Early College High School & P-Tech Center in 2024 to facilitate the combined high school and college experience. The facility includes a Gigafactory Texas P-TECH Manufacturing Studio.
Enrichment Beyond the Classroom
DVISD knows that student success extends beyond academics. The district offers free afterschool programming through 12th grade, including tutoring, robotics, sports, and cultural programs like Ballet Folklorico and theater. Comprehensive counseling services, community resources, and active Parent Community Liaisons ensure families stay engaged and supported.
Arts and athletics are also central to student life. From award-winning band and dance teams to competitive sports programs at the 6A level, DVISD helps students build leadership, teamwork, and school pride. And with modern facilities across the district, including a world-class athletics complex, students are equipped with the tools they need to excel.
A Bright Future for Whisper Valley Families
With Del Valle ISD’s newest high school set to open in Whisper Valley in 2027 and more educational opportunities on the horizon, our community is becoming an even more attractive place for Austin families to grow and thrive. We’re proud to partner with a district that values innovation, opportunity, and student success – and we can’t wait to welcome future DVISD students right here in our neighborhood!
